Roderick Insurance Brokers only Geelong business named as a finalist in the 2014 Telstra Victorian Business Awards
Roderick Insurance Brokers have recently been selected as a finalist in two categories of the Victoria Telstra Business Awards:- The Medium Business Award & the Regional Award. Selected as one of 25 Victorian finalists, Roderick Insurance Brokers is honoured to represent Geelong as the only Geelong based business.
All entrants were assessed against a rigorous selection criteria including 152 questions relating to sales & marketing, customers, team, planning & performance & financials of their businesses. Roderick Insurance Brokers was nominated by an anonymous person and would like to thank them for providing the opportunity to compare our business against some of the best businesses in the state.

Roderick Insurance Brokers has been operating since 1986 when Keith Roderick saw the growth potential in the emerging intermediary market and took the chance to go out on his own and set up something that could provide for his family into the future. 28 years later, Roderick Insurance Brokers now provides employment for 27 local people including Keith and his wife Louise as well as their two children Marnie & Wes. The insurance brokerage is now one of the largest in regional Victoria.
The business has encountered many challenges along the way with one of the biggest being the tragic loss of Jai Roderick to leukaemia in 2008, with the company not only having to bear the emotional loss of losing a family member, great friend & colleague but also handle the implications this meant to the business with succession planning and the future of the business.
In the last 5 years the business has continued to grow & it is looking forward to another 28 years having recently restructured for the future with the recent appointment of Marnie Roderick-Shepherd & Wes Roderick as Co-General Managers, Darren Halley as Sales Manager & Sandra O’Loughlin as Operations Manager.
So what is it that makes Roderick Insurance Brokers a successful award winning business? “The core of our business has never changed, we just work really hard for our clients” says Keith. “We act on behalf of our clients and always put them first when providing them with personalised advice they can trust. We only provide quality products and if the worst should happen & they have a claim we provide expert claims advice & manage the whole process for them. We really do fight for our clients.
“We have a unique team of 27 highly experienced, qualified & well trained staff and a wealth of insurance knowledge in our team. I am very proud to be able to work with such a great group of people and I really appreciate the knowledge & collaboration they bring to the table. I have 12 staff members who have been in the industry over 20 years & 12 staff members have been with the business for over 10 years.”

A race day is held by the local Geelong Insurance Industry every year in memory of Jai – This year the Jai Roderick Memorial Race Day will be on Friday 4th July at Geelong Racing Club.
