It’s that time of year again – the challenge of untangling the Christmas lights and dusting off the decorations. While most of us put some effort into the decorations and tree, how much do we put into making sure the lights are in a safe working condition? Here are 5 tips to ensure you get a visit from Santa’s red sleigh and not the Fire Brigade:
- Make sure electrical leads are safe and there is no damage.
- Test Christmas lights before installing them.
- Always turn your Christmas lights off before going to bed or leaving the house.
- If you have a living Christmas tree, ensure the lights are unplugged from the socket when watering the tree.
- Check your old lights haven’t been part of a product recall.
