The extreme climatic and weather events we have been experiencing over the last few years are becoming increasingly frequent. Whether that be a freak flash downpour, hail or aggressive thunderstorm or God forbid a bushfire, flood or earthquake, you can find yourself in an emergency situation very quickly.
These events are not easy to predict so it is imperative you are prepared for what might come your way. Taking the time to put in place planned measures will give you the peace of mind that you have best protected yourself, your family, and your business. Of course, Insurance plays a major role in the recovery following an event and you should speak to your insurance broker to ensure your coverage is adequate.
Apart from Insurance protection, there are steps you can take that could reduce risk, can help future proof your business and ensure safety.
Below are a few tips to help you get started in preparation for the summer months:
Emergency management plan
Having an emergency management plan is vital for families but it is also important for businesses.
The Federal Government offers a great resource to assist business with this planning: https://business.gov.au/planning/business-plans/develop-an-emergency-management-plan
Emergency planning tools
The Australian Disaster Resilience Knowledge Hub also houses a range of tools to help businesses in each state prepare for an emergency. It also includes tools to help you understand how effective your emergency plan is likely to be.
