COVID-19 RIB Response

It is now very clear that we will face many challenges in light of the continuing developments around the COVID-19 coronavirus.

We have a plan in place to enable our business to continue to operate during this challenging time.  We have the ability to have our staff work remotely with very little disruption to the service we provide to you.  We ask at this time that our clients observe the social distancing recommendations and keep communication with us to telephone &/or email.  We will advise you if we have to implement further measures as more information becomes available.

Roderick Insurance Brokers (RIB) is committed to managing our response in line with Government advice, our own Business Continuity Plans and emerging best practice as the situation unfolds. Our commitment is to the safety of our people and our clients and promoting resilience in the greater community – which means ensuring our business is equipped to continue to protect our client’s assets along with processing and paying claims so that our clients can get on with their lives.

What we’re doing

  • The RIB team is reviewing our existing systems and processes to ensure detailed plans are established to specifically address the unique characteristics of COVID-19. This includes an assessment of off-site working capability and setting up technology and equipment so that we can continue to provide service in critical areas.
  • We are engaging with our people to monitor all travel and cancelling non-essential business trips.
  • We are working with leaders across our business to monitor symptoms and enacting self-quarantine measures.
  • We are engaging with insurers and other partners to redirect meetings to secure tele/video conference systems.
  • Temporary ban on attendance at external events.

What we’re asking of you

  • For the next month or so, you will see less of us physically, however we are committed to continuing to deliver a high quality service to you via other means. As a result please limit any requests for non-essential in-person meetings.
  • Please contact us if you wish to visit the office so that we can advise you what is possible, particularly if you have travelled overseas within the last 14 days.

We will be continuously monitoring the situation as it unfolds and will keep you updated should our approach change.

Economic Response to the Coronavirus

We are also mindful of the toll this issue may be having on businesses across our region. We will endeavour to support you in any way possible. If you have any concerns or questions around your insurance program, please call us to discuss. We would like to advise that the Australian Government has announced an economic response totalling $17.6 billion across the forward estimates to protect the economy by maintaining confidence, supporting investment and keeping people in jobs. Additional household income and business support will flow through to strengthen the wider economy.
The Government’s economic response targets four key areas:

In summary

If you are a business owner, now is the time to revisit and test your business continuity plan, and ensure that your business can continue to operate, even in the worst-case scenario.
Businesses must keep up to date with the latest COVID-19 information and advice to ensure that any action taken is measured and appropriate. This includes closely monitoring the Australian Government Department of Health, the Smartraveller website and any advice from state or territory government agencies.
Employees also have a duty to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and to not adversely affect the health and safety of others. Employees should be reminded to always practice good hygiene and other measures to protect themselves and others against infection.

If you are unwell, stay home and DO NOT attend any meetings or events – we can’t stress this enough.

Yours sincerely,
Keith Roderick
